About Our Preschool...
We provide an opportunity for your child to learn and socialize with others in a loving and stimulating environment. Our wonderful teacher creates an atmosphere that meets the individual needs of each child in a group setting. Willow Park Preschool is community-driven and parent run. As a parent cooperative, it is designed to allow you, the parent, an opportunity to participate in your child's learning.
What we can offer your child...
We have morning classes for children ages 3 to 5. Our 4 year old program has a longer class time and a teacher's aide as part of our excellent program for Kindergarten readiness. We offer your child:
- an opportunity to socialize
- an opportunity for structured play and non-structured play in each class
- an opportunity to experience a low student/teacher ratio
- an opportunity to experience field trips
- an opportunity to develop skills in preparation for kindergarten
- most of all an opportunity to ... HAVE FUN!
What we can offer you as a parent...
We can offer you the opportunity to grow with your child in your community. Since we are a community-based program, you will naturally meet other parents from the neighborhood and surrounding areas. Our preschool is best suited to those parents who actively want to participate in and be a part of their child's learning. We encourage your participation by:
- assisting in class about once every two months as a "helper" to our trained staff
- bringing a healthy snack for your child to share with the other children on the days when you are helping in the classroom
- joining us for field trips
- assisting us occasionally with some smaller details (e.g. making play dough, periodic housekeeping duties, bringing recyclables for crafts)
- being part of decision-making for the school at parent meetings (held in the evenings every two months - usually in September, November, January, March and May)
- volunteering for one of the positions on our Parent Board
- having FUN and enjoying learning with your child(ren)
We have found that our school works well for parent(s) working outside of the home as well as for at-home parents. We welcome grandparents and caregivers to participate in the classoom and to join our field trips.
